Whew…I recorded about 1.65″ of rain at my house in 45 minutes from a severe thunderstorm earlier today. Pretty crazy. We also had a brief power interruption as the storm blew through. It’s not over yet, either. A flood statement was issued for the area, as high tide is in two hours. Lousy timing, no?
I’d be very curious to see how flooded it is near my house right now. More on this later.
Update: Two hours after the storm had passed, there was still considerable ponding of water on Ashley Ave. The street lights at the corner of Calhoun and Smith St. were malfunctioning (as of 5:45 PM), presumably due to a lightning strike somewhere very near the peninsula. Otherwise, things seem to be pretty alright…
