The radar estimated one-hour totals from it aren’t terribly impressive by tropical storm standards (a half an inch of rain an hour) but the base velocity tells a whole other story:
There are definitely stronger winds in these storms than any of the other bands we’ve seen previously. The lighter greens on the velocity map indicate winds upwards of 30-35 MPH in these, and as you can see it’s pretty widespread.
Storm Team 2 said just before they signed off after the EOC press conference that the worst of the weather is to be expected between about 2:30 to 5 PM today, a good timeframe to keep in mind. Now’s the time to finish putting stuff up, like I’m going to do right now.
