MySpace Jobs

LOL. So I was looking around MySpace in an epic homework evasion maneuver and noticed a new “Jobs” link on the homepage. You basically can search for jobs on MySpace now via SimplyHired.

Am I the only person who finds this idea incredibly hilarious? MySpace profiles are used by employers in their weeding-out process. Haha.

Back to work with me…and then a rundown of the Panthers & the Chargers (HEARTBREAKER!) later on.

Padres win the West — again!

The San Diego Padres just defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-6 in what ended up being a nailbiter for their second straight NL West crown. The Dodgers won, too, but the Padres won the division based on the season series overwhelmingly being in San Diego’s favor.

Trevor Hoffman had a rough outing, giving up consecutive homers, but got it together to finish the D-Backs off. Fantastic!

More later — I’m printing things in the library right now and am on a bit of a time crunch.

UPDATE: Now that I can actually see the recap, I corrected a factual error. Sorry for pinning those home runs on you, Linebrink. ;)

New Vista gaming system

Paul Thurrott has a review up of how [tag]Windows Vista[/tag] will handle gaming. In a nutshell, [tag]Microsoft[/tag] is attempting to make installing games on Windows Vista computers as easy as putting a disc in a console and playing away. The new “Games for Windows” logo program will require serious vendor buy-in, but the ease-of-installation and stringent requirements for the games to run on both the Vista x86 and x64 platforms (among other things) will go a long way toward taking headaches out of some games.

Check it out — this is pretty cool stuff.

USA Today: Diebold in your area? Vote absentee

Check out this great USA Today article about the Diebold e-voting machines that have caused so much controversy. It’s a little surprising to see something like that mentioned in mass media, and I like seeing it there. Hopefully more will be done on the pitfalls of these systems before the election.

For the record, some SC counties use the Election Systems & Software iVotronic system. You can read more about it here. While the iVotronic has not come under the same scrutiny that the Diebold system has, there are still some concerns over it, as this thread at Black Box Voting will attest. Some good stuff there, and worth looking into.
