I’ve gone nuts today

So if you haven’t been around The Blog in the last few hours, you may be a little shocked at all the little things that changed. For the sake of documentation (and so I can remember all the crap I did today), here’s a list of the changes:

  • New feature: I’ve added links in the newly-refreshed metadata area beneath every post (you know, where it says “Posted by Jared at blah blah blah”) to share individual posts on The Blog via del.icio.us, Digg, and Facebook. This primarily is so that I can have other people do my dirty post-whoring work for me — that, and I want you to make it a bit easier to share stuff if I happen to write a post you like. :) If there are other social bookmarking sites you find useful, please let me know, and I’ll consider including them.
  • As stated above, I did refresh the meta area a bit. Less gray is generally a good thing.
  • Comments I make are now specially highlighted as a visual cue that, yes, I did comment on my own blog. This also is useful if someone tries to masquerade as “Jared Smith” in comments as well. I’m not sure how I like how I did it just yet, though; so that visual cue may be tweaked up a bit. :)
  • The breadcrumbing system finally doesn’t look amateurish anymore. Now if only I could get it working less amateurishly. :)
  • I’ve tried to lighten the reality of putting Google ads on my page by adding pithy quotes above most of them.
  • The playlist area near the bottom has reverted to using Last.fm image charts. The RSS feed is cool but it was all thrown out of order all the time, and that’s just not stalkerish enough. :)
  • I’ve reworked the RSS icons around the site. You’ll notice a new link to adding The Blog to your Google homepage in the sidebar, as well.
  • Other random stupidity and analness was resolved in various locations on the site.

Hope you guys like the changes. And now, to rest…

J
