I've had Twitter set to sync to Facebook for a long time now. And I've had good results. Most of the people I know just aren't going to be on Twitter and it's just easier to reach them on Facebook. Plus, I know they're not going to be looking at my Facebook profile either for the little Twitter box.

And the fact that my name prefixes all the status updates doesn't really bother me as it just let's people know who is posting. When I'm looking at updates, I just block it out. ;) And if I didn't use Twitter I wouldn't be posting on Facebook anyway, so I wouldn't get all the lovely comments I've gotten.

I kept mine linked for all of about a day, until I realized how much it overtook the news feed on Facebook. Now I just change my status there whenever I think about it, and hope that hits enough people. Periodically, I make my status say something like "is wondering who else is on Twitter and/or FriendFeed", and see if I can connect with people over there instead. It's only worked once, but since I haven't done it in a while (and have added more people to my audience) I might go do it again right now... :)

(I have two friends who still ship their Twitter over to Facebook, and they are machine-gun Twitterers. It's very, very annoying.)

I used to synch twitter and facebook but had the same issue with the status updates and tweets correlating. I use facebook a whole lot more than twitter but definitely use both. I have found hellotext takes care of my needs. I go there to update my status and I can choose if I want it on one, more or all sites. It also works with linkedin and myspace.

I've gone through the same thing recently. The same audience that I want to communicate with via Facebook is the exact same audience that can't handle my volume of online activity. Plus, it just blows out peoples news river there. Since Facebook has a decent mobile app for the iPhone, I opted to update directly in Facebook which gets picked up in FriendFeed and then published to Twitter. So updates I originate in Facebook are the only updates my Facebook friends see and it gets relayed automatically.
