Hey Jared,

Great points! And I agree with all of them. Here's some interesting exceptions I've come across on my css journey, pretty much backing up your original point that browsers need standards so we don't have to hack with resets and so on:

Why Google Does Not Validate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPBACTS-tyg

View your profile source code on Twitter: Tables are used for 2 col layout. I've found 2 column equal height layouts with css are extremely difficult without js to calculate the longest of the two and resize the shorter one, since div wraps to content height.

Thanks for posting these notes. Sorry I couldn't stay, but from what I hear it was a great session. Still the talk of the group this morning! You should give a talk on HTML5 sometime in the future too.

I couldn't agree with you more about Chrome, it's v8 javascript engine is so snappy...i can't go back to any other broswer.

I can attest to multiple tabs as I also regularly have at least 10/15 open most days...and absolutely love the 'tab/task manager for it' SHIFT+ESC.

Using the dev channel for a while also made chrome really slow on occasion, especially when i made my shortcut contain all the flags to enable extensions (before they rolled out in to stable).

One of the things I've been using more and more lately in development is the development tools...which seems so much like firebug. By default when you 'Inspect element' you get a little popup, but you can dock the pop up in the lower left corner, so i sits within your browser screen.

I also like all of the real estate given for actually looking at web pages....instead of having all of the buttons/toolbars and the like.

Thanks for the post, its cool to hear about it on the mac. All of my experience has mostly been on win 7/vista.

Your information is false. Norm's Pizza was never going to be shut down for good. Norm, the original owner, was planning to take back over the restaurant after Traye contacted Norm stating that he, Traye, was burnt out and wanted out of the restaurant. There NEVER a plan to shut the restaurant down for good. The building has been re-modeled and is currently up and running with the original owner and his family running the joint. You can find a write up about it in The George Street Observer.

Jared-
I think those sound like excellent topic ideas! I especially have interest in the privacy aspect of social sites and would love to have an industry discussion on the topic.

Another concept I'm always interested in is the "next big thing" prediction. I have my own ideas, but I'd love to hear what trends others are seeing arise.

I have yet to attend a SMCCHS meeting (always a conflicting event/meeting), but I look forward to connecting in Feb.
