A rare post…

It’s a pretty rare event that I post on February 29th, and for a change, it has nothing to do with how busy I am. ;) A few pre-midterm thoughts while Twitter is MIA (again!)…

  • Don’t let the RIAA fool you — the music lawsuits were never about protectnig the artists. I’ll be really surprised to see if artists get any cut at all when it’s all said and done.
  • I feel another obsession coming on. A friend of mine sent me a YouTube link to Thunder in Paradise, a very short-lived show featuring Hulk Hogan with a kickass boat and lots of scantily-clad women. I used to really dig it when it was on TNT…and it seems as if I can watch it. Many years later, I see why the show was so short-lived.
  • The blogger/tweeter meetup last night was pretty fantastic. I stayed way later than I expected, but had a great time. Shuffleboard at Gene’s is a fantastic time. Highly recommended. It was great to meet some new folks as well as see some folks I hadn’t seen in a while!
  • One more midterm, and the student side of my life is off for a week.

Hope your Friday is fun!

December 1

We should be so fortunate that here in Charleston, it’s December 1 and we have the option to wear shorts. Right now is a good time to not live in the Midwest. I don’t know how I could ever deal with a snowstorm like that.

It’s going to rain like hell in about three or four hours, I think. Make sure you have an umbrella during the afternoon — it will come in handy. Enjoy this warmth while it lasts, too, for tomorrow will be much cooler!

Enjoy your Friday…

Friday Night. Live…on the INTERNET(S).

So it’s Friday night — and I’m on the Internet(s). See, I could probably have gone out if I wanted to. I’ve been a smidgen under the weather the last few days, but today marked a significant improvement on that front. As my trusty friend Chris would say, I could be out looking at “Broken Wings” (a term that we [we being my work friends and I] generally use to refer to amazing-looking women) rather than listening to it (i.e. the Mr. Mister song, from which this signal is derived). However, in the name of saving my pocketbook and my liver, I’ve decided to remain indoors tonight and play here. Continue reading

Friday, I’m in love…

Wow, it’s almost 9:30 AM and the temperature isn’t already 80. That’s fantastic. They’re forecasting upper 80s today, which is better than it has been, under some passing clouds. That’ll be a nice contrast to yesterday. ;)

The instructor of my 8am class polled the class about how they spent their day off from Ernesto. I was, predictably, one of two people to wake up early, and was most certainly the only person to live-blog it. This, of course, comes as no surprise. Interestingly, no one fessed up to watching the Weather Channel. There were certainly a lot of movies watched yesterday. A few people played in the rain. I’m surprised that people gasped when I told them I took pictures, actually.

Speaking of Ernesto, it made landfall at Long Beach, NC last night as a 70 MPH tropical storm. However, as twc_aficionados moderator cieldumort states, it will probably be upgraded posthumously to a Category 1 hurricane, much like Gaston was in 2004. I tend to believe him there, as the storm was forming an eye-like feature just before landfall.

Weather news aside, I definitely love the fact that it’s Friday. I’m getting my car back tonight, and then I do believe it will be time for a little…erm…disorder later. I say that now, but the reality of the situation will likely be that I reinstall my critical apps in Windows Vista tonight, where I will do my best to make it my primary OS so I can really see if I’ll like it or not. It most certainly would be a cheaper activity than going out, getting smashed, and looking at girls I could never muster the courage to talk to. :)
